Human Rights
Protecting Environment conducts surveys among indigenous populations to identify human rights violations through interviews and field investigations.
These surveys are carried out with the support of field investigators who often prefer to remain anonymous. Together, we examine several key areas, including youth and children’s rights; socio-economic and cultural rights; gender and women’s rights; poverty and human rights. Particular attention is given to labor rights, which remains a major concern.
Our investigators help collect data from indigenous communities in the Niari region who work in forestry companies. Once collected, the data are analyzed to identify violations, denial of rights, and systemic weaknesses. The findings are shared with human rights and indigenous peoples’ NGOs, enabling them to mobilize in support of affected communities. In most cases, however, we also provide direct advice and assistance, empowering indigenous people to advocate for themselves.
Protecting Environment also supports organizations of persons living with disabilities by monitoring the implementation of relevant laws through documentary research on themes such as youth and children’s rights; socio-economic and cultural rights; gender and women’s rights; poverty and human rights. Following analysis, we accompany these organizations in awareness-raising actions targeting other human rights and disability-focused NGOs, emphasizing the importance of self-advocacy and collective responsibility.
